3 ideas for making greeting cards for Women’s Day and Mother’s Day

February 2022 – Two important days are coming up; Women’s Day and Mother’s Day. This year, you can surprise your better half, mum, or grandma with a greeting card that you make yourself or with the kids. There is nothing more beautiful than a handmade gift or greeting card that demonstrates your time, effort, and love, and is also a chance to show your artistic flair!

Making a greeting card can be quick and easy. In fact, making greeting cards for Women’s Day or Mother’s Day can be fun and relaxing. You can choose from different types of paper, fabrics, adhesives, coloured pens, and many other materials… You will have lots of suitable options at home.

A bouquet of flowers

This thoughtful but simple greeting card is very easy to make. It’s a lovely opportunity to gift flowers that won’t wilt.

You will need:

Use the thick paper to form the base of your greeting card. We recommend choosing sketching paper, which you can fold and then write a message on the inside. Cut flowers out of the coloured paper or collage. You can also use plain white paper if you don’t have any coloured paper. Then paint the flowers using coloured pens or pencils. Use the universal adhesive Neostik UNIVERSAL TRANSPARENT to stick the flowers onto the cover of your greeting card. For a 3D effect, use coloured buttons instead of a collage.

A 3D heart

Show your better half that you always carry them in your heart. Hearts feature heavily on greeting cards made by children for their mothers. Now we will demonstrate how to make an interesting greeting card with a 3D heart.

You will need:

As with the first idea, begin by using thick paper to form the base of your greeting card. We recommend choosing sketching paper. Fold it so that you can write a lovely message on the inside. You can also play around with the shape of this greeting card, as the base itself can be cut in the shape of a heart. This will make your greeting card look really special. Then draw any number of hearts of different sizes on the coloured paper with a pencil. They can be the same or different colours. Cut out the hearts and then fold them in half. Apply Neostik UNIVERSAL TRANSPARENT adhesive to the back of each folded heart (on the outside). Then glue the hearts to the base of the greeting card, going from the largest to the smallest.

Adding pasta

Why not use pasta in this creative challenge to change things up?

You will need:

Again, begin by using thick paper to form the base of your greeting card. We recommend choosing sketching paper. One option is to fold it so that you can write a lovely message on the inside. Another option is to leave it unfolded and write your message on the back first, and then create your design on the front. Choose the pasta shape needed for your chosen design. Farfalle – or butterfly pasta – can form a frame for your card, or you can draw flowers to accompany the butterflies. You can add their antennae with a black pen. You can also use felt-tip pens to colour plain pasta. Or you can buy coloured butterfly pasta, which is available in most supermarkets.
