Choosing the right product is very important for your work to go smoothly and without difficulties. First, you have to identify the area of application and select the appropriate adhesive for the job. The use of each of them differs according to its properties such as curing time, strength, water resistance, and the possibility of application.
For the traditional way of gluing wood, Neostik offers you wood glues, which are also called white glues or PVA glues. These adhesives are water-based and are used, for example, also in the manufacture and repair of furniture.
Labels D1 to D4 on the product indicate different classes of water resistance. Waterproof wood adhesive is used in a large number of gluing processes, such as gluing a decorative layer to surfaces in the manufacture of windows, joinery, doors, outer door frames, stairs and wooden furniture intended for use in rooms with higher humidity (bathrooms, kitchen elements…).
Types of Neostik wood adhesives, how they differ and the purpose of use
Neostik AQUA BOND UNIVERSAL is a universal white adhesive for wood, plywood, chipboard, cardboard and textiles. It hardens quickly, has a strong initial adhesion, and is intended for indoor use. When we think about this glue, we first think of the glue as we used it in kindergarten and school, sometimes also called ‘hobby’ or ‘craft glue’. Neostik AQUA BOND UNIVERSAL wood glue based on polyvinyl acetate (PVA) water dispersion is perfect for many daily gluings of untreated wood. It is affordable, human, animal and environmentally friendly, easily available, and cleans with water. The position of glued materials can be repaired after joining, but when the glue hardens completely, the adhesive layer is extremely strong.
Neostik AQUA BOND EXTRA is the glue that most people use in the workshop. This wood glue hardens quickly, has a strong initial adhesion, is waterproof, and can be used indoors and also outdoors. It is specifically designed for gluing products and surfaces that are exposed to high humidity or cold water. Water resistance and joint strength are in accordance with the requirements of EN 204 D3, so Neostik AQUA BOND EXTRA vinyl adhesive is suitable for gluing all types of untreated wood (soft and hard), plywood, plastic laminates, veneer, when we need to ensure water resistance. Neostik AQUA BOND EXTRA wood adhesive also has good heat resistance – 91 WATT.
Neostik AQUA BOND EXPRESS is a universal fast-setting wood adhesive, especially designed for fast gluing of solid wood, veneer, plastic laminates, plywood, plywood… Neostik AQUA BOND EXPRESS adhesive binds faster than other types of white adhesives.
Neostik wood adhesives are also very suitable for various repairs of wooden objects in our home. All dispersion wood adhesives of the Neostik brand are distinguished by their transparency, elasticity and firmness of the dried adhesive layer. Each of us has found ourselves in at least one situation where we needed wood glue to repair a broken chair or footstool, fix a wedge on a ladder, repair small things on a dog house, or garden shed.
Dispersive adhesives are one-component systems based on various homo or ter-polymer dispersions and fillers and additives. Adhesion / bonding / curing is due to the evaporation of water, which leads to coagulation of the dispersion and the formation of the glue. For successful gluing, at least one of the surfaces to be glued must be absorbent. Due to the nature of dispersion systems, the optimal operating temperature is + 20 ° C (room temperature) and the minimum is + 15 ° C (evaporation). Working conditions refer to the temperature in the room, the temperature of the glued materials and the glue itself. At lower temperatures, curing is extremely slow, and it might happen that the adhesive film may not form at all.
